Season 5 kicks off with a sparkling wine style known as pétillant naturel or pét-nat. These wines are made in a method similar to the ancestral or ancient method that dates back over 500 years. They are fun, fresh, sometimes funky, and certainly refreshing. Many are sealed with a crown cap (like a beer bottle) and may even sport some sediment or cloudiness. This episode explains the how and why of this style of sparkling wine.
